Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 06 April 1995

The trough in the southern branch of the westerlies continued to move eastward,
taking the significant convection with it to central and southern FL, well out
of the VORTEX area. By 00Z, 850 mb flow in southern TX was northerly in spite
of surface flow off the Gulf ... deep moisture has been pushed away but the
surface moisture is being carried northward as lee troughing develops, without
yet tapping the Gulf. High lapse rates continue to develop in the southern
Rockies, spilling onto the western part of the southern plains, where deep,
surface-based mixed layers were present at 00Z.

The combination of shallow moisture, weak flow, ridging aloft in the wake of the
retreating system in the southern branch conspires to maintain fair weather
over the VORTEX area. The only severe weather reports were confined to FL.
