Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized:  16 April 1995

In strong southwesterly flow, some weak short wave troughs were embedded, moving
over considerable low level moisture that had pushed into southwestern TX by 00Z
with an axis from southeast of MAF across southeastern OK.  The best midtropo-
spheric lapse rates were over the southeast and in the southern Rockies, with
a relative weakness from MAF to Woodward.  The major shortwave trough had dug
into southeastern CA and closed off.  Thunderstorms were underway by 1400 CDT in
north central and extreme southwestern OK.

Considerable severe weather was reported, with the earliest report in OK in the
SELS log being baseball hail at 1530 CST 12 nm southeast of LTS.  Several meso-
cyclones were reported between Frederick and Grandfield, OK.  Any tornadoes were
marginal and have not been logged by SELS.
