Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 20 April 1995

As one cyclone lifted northward toward eastern SD and southwestern MN, another
shortwave trough moved into and across the VORTEX ops area. The dryline/front
continued to move eastward and considerable convection developed just in the
extreme southeastern corner of the ops area. High lapse rates were associated
with the cold air aloft, but the absence of low-level moisture resulted in most
of the area experiencing no deep convection. Cool air was approaching the area
at low levels, brought southward by the nearly vertically-stacked system in the
northern plains.

Considerable severe weather spread across the southeast, but was baically out-
side the VORTEX ops area.
