Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 28 April 1995

A zonal flow with no major shortwave systems persisted over the region, but a
moderately strong shortwave trough began to organize over the hi plains by 00Z.
Moisture was returning strongly during the day through TX and OK into south-
western KS. A cold front began to move southward from the northern plains of
MT and the Dakotas into NE. A dryline was established in western TX and high
700-500 mb delta-ts were established over the southern Rockies and being advec-
ted onto the plains.

Although significant moisture and instability were created during the afternoon
and evening, a strong cap restrained the convection during the day. However,
these ingredients were lifted over the retreating cool air at low levels, and
strong thunderstorms developed in eastern CO and western KS. These storms con-
tinued on into the night, evolving into an MCS. Some severe weather was repor-
ted in southern KS and northern OK overnight but it mostly was of a marginal
character.
