Summary of Daily Weather
Date Being Summarized: 14 MAY 1995

Strong ridging aloft occurred during the day even as a pool of cool air at low
levels sank southward along the high plains of west TX. At the surface, the
boundary between this cool air and the high theta-e air over TX and southeastern
OK was quite sharp. Whereas the boundary over west TX continued southward at
moderate speed, the southward progression of the boundary was slow over south-
eastern OK. The warm moist air had CAPEs on the order of 6000 J kg-1 but the
high lapse rates aloft resulting in the large CAPE also meant a substantial cap.
The convection didn't develop until rather late in the afternoon near SJT, which
produced some reported severe weather, including a tornado, on the margins of
the ops area. This developed into an MCS moving southeastward. Later in the
evening, around 2200L, new convection developed between CDS and SPS which pro-
duced some marginal reported severe weather and then went on to become an MCS
moving east-northeastward, traversing the southern half of OK during the night.
